RICHMOND POLICE DEPARTMENT
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR
FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER
GENERAL DUTIES
- Creating and Maintain Security in the Community
- Identifying and apprehending individuals in violation of criminal statutes through proactive policing
- Enforcement of traffic laws
- Fielding calls for service (both criminal and quality of life)
- Completing incident reports and prosecutorial case work.

- The Town of Richmond is located In south-east Chittenden County with a population of approximately 4400 residents
- The Town of Richmond is a primarily rural patrol area with an active town center
- Police Department consists of a Chief of Police, a Patrol Sergeant and 5 Patrol Officers
- Police Department fields an average of 1300 calls for service annually
- Opportunities offered for special details such as Governor’s Highway Safety Program and SHARP
- All required uniforms and equipment provided by the town
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- US Citizen
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Vermont operator’s license
- Have Tier 2 or higher certification from the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council or ability to obtain certification within 1 year from date of hire
- Ability to interact effectively with town officials, the general public and local and state agencies
- Ability to meet the physical and firearms proficiency requirements
- Ability to work under varying weather conditions and situations endangering personal safety
- Ability to work both day and night shifts
- Skills in problem solving and critical thinking
- Be of strong moral character
- Drug free for the past 3 years (including marijuana)

- Written Examination
- Physical Fitness Test
- MMPI
- Oral Interview
- Background Investigation
- Polygraph
- Medical Examination
