Police Officer

NPD is looking for a motivated and dedicated person, willing to join our team. It will take high ethical standards, integrity, leadership courage and a team effort to become a City of Newcastle Police Officer. This career demands individuals to be mature and have personal responsibility that is in line with the NPD's values and code of ethics
- Non-Certified applicants will need to complete an application, written and physical agility test, psychological and medical exam and multiple interviews with supervisors within the department.
- Certified applicants will not take the physical agility exam, but will need to complete a psychological, medical (physician) exam as well as a thorough background and POST certificate investigation.
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS
- High School Diploma
- valid drivers license with no previous suspensions within 5 years.
- U.S Citizen
- Age: 21
- Education: GED or H.S. Diploma
No felony, Domestic Violence convictions or recent drug use (5 years) including THC. - Be of good sound moral character with a solid financial status.

SALARY
Starting salary is dependent on education (AA, BA) in related field of Criminal Justice or years of experience in CJ law enforcement.
Entry Level Salary:$19.04 hourly
Academy Graduate:$19.54 hourly
Lateral:$20.50 hourly
Top Pay:$25.00 hourly
We offer many specialties such as Intox Operator, Firearms and Taser Instructor programs, which bolster the overall salary and annual wage. We have take home vehicles and work 12 hours shifts with three and four days off within the two week pay period.
The City of Newcastle pays for all insurance for staff member and family with no out of pocket premium costs, which includes Blue Cross and Blue Shield as well as dental coverage.
