UNDERSHERIFF
Valley County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Undersheriff. Five or more years of experience preferred. Currently, VCSO has nine sworn officers including the Sheriff Elect. VCSO is an innovative office with new patrol vehicles, equipment, and training. VCSO utilizes modern policing technology including Axon X2 CEW’s, WatchGuard body cameras and in-car cameras, and Safariland external ballistic vests.
The Undersheriff position currently pays approximately $46,100.00. There is a $1,500.00 annual uniform allowance, health insurance benefits, retirement, and longevity pay. Opportunities for overtime exist. The Undersheriff is a Deputy Sheriff that is appointed and serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff, the Undersheriff executes the office of Sheriff in the absence of the elected official.
Valley County has roughly 7,800 people spread across over 5,000 square miles. The largest town and county seat is Glasgow, Montana. There are seven other communities in Valley County and approximately one third of the county is made up of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Valley County is an outdoor prairie paradise that boasts great upland, waterfowl, and big game hunting opportunities. Most notably Fort Peck Lake is known for its abundant game fish species with trophy walleye, pike, salmon and small mouth bass. The rural county is known as the “middle of nowhere” which is probably why most of us live here.
