Newington Police Department Now Hiring
Entry level (certified or non-certified).
Salary: $74,625 (recruit) Step 1 $80,234 - $102,424 Essential Functions:
Enforces state laws and town ordinances, maintains order, prevents crime, makes arrests, and performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D., some college preferred, and a good prior work record.
- Must have a valid State of Connecticut driver’s license at the time of appointment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen by the date of appointment.
- Twenty-one years of age or older at time of appointment.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph, medical and psychological examination as well as physical agility and written tests. Other special requirements may apply.
Testing Requirements
Newington is a Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) participating Department. To be eligible to apply, qualified candidates will need to:
- Obtain a current/valid C.H.I.P. Card. and take the CPCA test.
- Register on policeapp.com. Once you pass the CPCA test and have obtained a minimum passing score of 70%, and have your C.H.I.P. card, you must complete an employment application on policeapp.com/Newington.
